A Great Game of Football. Finnway vs Headstart

At Finnway International School, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom—and this week’s football match against Headstart International School was a perfect example of that. Played in our state-of-the-art, fully air-conditioned Sports Hall, the match was a hard-fought battle of skill, teamwork, and determination that ended in a well-earned 1 – 1 draw.

Both teams brought their best to the pitch, showing not just athletic ability but also strong character. The atmosphere was electric with support from cheering parents, staff, and an energetic group of student cheerleaders who brought even more spirit to the occasion.

But this wasn’t just about the final score. Events like this remind us why sport is such an important part of school life. It teaches our students invaluable life skills—discipline, perseverance, leadership, and the ability to work as a team. Just as importantly, it gives them a chance to grow emotionally and socially, to learn how to win with humility and lose with grace.

We’re incredibly fortunate here in Phuket to be part of a thriving international school community. With so many outstanding schools on the island, our students have the opportunity to regularly compete, collaborate, and connect with peers from all backgrounds. These experiences foster not only athletic development but also cultural understanding and friendship.

One of the most valuable lessons sport can teach—perhaps the most important of all—is sportsmanship. At Finnway, we place a strong emphasis on respect: for teammates, for opponents, and for the game itself. The positive attitudes shown by both teams during this match made us truly proud and reflect the kind of character we aim to nurture in every student.

A heartfelt thank you to Headstart International School for coming to play, and to all the parents, staff, and supporters who helped make this event so memorable. Here’s to many more matches that bring out the best in our students—on and off the field.
