This morning, the Finnway International School community gathered in solemn reflection to honour the extraordinary life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
Our Founder and CEO, Khun Pakakrit Wasiksiri, delivered a heartfelt message in Thai, followed by Teacher Matt and Teacher Lindsay, who shared the English version. Together, our school observed a minute of silence to remember Her Majesty’s lifelong devotion to the Kingdom of Thailand, her people, and the preservation of Thai culture and natural heritage.
Following the ceremony, members of our management team, teachers, students, and parent representatives signed the Condolence Book, leaving messages of remembrance and gratitude for a Queen whose grace, compassion, and dedication touched generations.
The Life and Times of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother
Born on 12 August 1932, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit Kitiyakara was a symbol of elegance, strength, and compassion throughout modern Thai history. As the beloved consort of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), she stood beside him for more than six decades, championing the causes of education, rural development, craftsmanship, and cultural preservation.
Often called the “Mother of the Nation,” Her Majesty devoted her life to uplifting the Thai people—particularly those in rural areas—through initiatives that promoted sustainable development, women’s empowerment, and traditional Thai arts and crafts. Her establishment of the SUPPORT Foundation in 1976 helped preserve Thailand’s artistic heritage while creating opportunities for thousands of families to build better lives.
Her Majesty was also deeply committed to environmental protection, pioneering reforestation and conservation projects that reflected her love for Thailand’s natural beauty and biodiversity.
Throughout her life, Queen Sirikit embodied the values of kindness, grace, and service—values that continue to inspire the Thai people and those around the world.
