Primary Open Classroom Day.
This week, our Primary classrooms were filled with excitement as we welcomed parents into school for our Open Classroom Day for students in Grades 1 to 6. The morning offered a wonderful window into daily learning at our school and a meaningful opportunity for families to engage with their children’s progress.
Throughout the hour, parents were invited to come and go as it suited their schedule, making the event accessible and relaxed for everyone. Each student took approximately 15 to 20 minutes to proudly share their learning from the first part of the term, showcasing their achievements across a range of subjects. From literacy and numeracy to creative and inquiry-based projects, classrooms were alive with conversation, curiosity and confidence.
What made the morning especially special was the focus on metacognitive skills, student agency and student action. Parents did not just observe learning, they experienced it alongside their children through hands-on activities designed to encourage reflection, independence and deeper thinking. It was inspiring to see students confidently explaining their ideas, processes and progress, truly taking ownership of their learning journey.
Primary open Classroom Day is more than a snapshot of academic progress, it is a celebration of partnership between home and school. The warmth, engagement and pride seen in every classroom reflected the strong sense of community that defines our Primary years.
We would like to thank all parents who joined us for this special morning of learning and exploration. Your presence, encouragement and involvement make a real difference to our students. We look forward to welcoming you back into our classrooms again soon.
